Quantitative, Multiplexed Detection of Salmonella and Other Pathogens by Luminex® xMAP™ Suspension Array -- Detection of Salmonella by Bacteriophage Felix 01 -- Physical Mapping of Salmonella Genomes -- Cloth-Based Hybridization Array System for the Identification of Antibiotic Resistance Genes in Salmonella -- Genome-Based Identification and Molecular Analyses of Pathogenicity Islands and Genomic Islands in Salmonella enterica -- Determination of the Gene Content of Salmonella Genomes by Microarray Analysis -- In Vivo Excision, Cloning, and Broad-Host-Range Transfer of Large Bacterial DNA Segments Using VEX-Capture -- Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism Analysis of Salmonella enterica -- Salmonella Phages and Prophages-Genomics and Practical Aspects -- Salmonella Typhimurium Phage Typing for Pathogens -- Salmonella Phages Examined in the Electron Microscope -- Applications of Cell Imaging in Salmonella Research -- Analysis of Kinesin Accumulation on Salmonella-Containing Vacuoles -- Magnesium, Manganese, and Divalent Cation Transport Assays in Intact Cells -- Methods in Cell-to-Cell Signaling in Salmonella -- Development of Salmonella Strains as Cancer Therapy Agents and Testing in Tumor Cell Lines -- Further Resources for Molecular Protocols in Salmonella Research.
Resumen: Salmonella: Methods and Protocols presents detailed methods on a variety of aspects of Salmonella research, focusing on those which provide landmarks for future discovery. Highlighted topics include molecular genotyping, rapid and accurate new methods for sensitive determination of antibiotic resistance profiles, the characterization of Salmonella-specific cell antigens, and Salmonella-host cell interactions. Detailed methods for studying Salmonella motility are also presented. Each chapter provides a short overview of the topic, which is followed by detailed explanations of techniques such as genetic manipulation and molecular imaging that offer the possibilities of using Salmonella as a therapeutic vector to interfere with disease. This is the first comprehensive volume of methods and protocols for studying Salmonella and will be indispensable to researchers engaged in the study of Salmonella, and enterobacteria in general. Because no recent comprehensive literature of this format is available on Salmonella, Salmonella: Methods and Protocols will be of value to a wide variety of researchers engaged in the study of Salmonella, and enterobacteria in general.
